What happens if the monochromatic light used in Young's double-slit experiment is replaced by white light? 

White light consists of colors between violet and red. The wavelength $\lambda$ is the shortest for violet light and the longest for a red light. At the central fringe, the path difference for all colors is zero. Therefore, at the center of the screen, all colors superimpose to give a white fringe.
