What happens in IIT counselling?

IIT counseling is a crucial process for students who have qualified for JEE Advanced and wish to secure a seat in one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The counseling process is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), and here's how it typically works:

1. Registration and Choice Filling:
   • After the JEE Advanced results are declared, qualified candidates must register for counseling through the JoSAA portal.

2. Document Verification:

3. Seat Allotment:

   • If a candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat, they may participate in subsequent rounds of counseling, during which they can either change their seat preferences or opt for a seat upgrade.
   • Candidates may also withdraw from a seat and opt for the next round if they want a better seat.
7. Final Admission:
   • After the final round of seat allotment, candidates who have confirmed their seat will receive their admission letter, after which they need to complete the formalities to join the IIT.
