The caste pattern is a hierarchical division of castes.
From earlier times in the rural side of India, the caste pattern has been prevailing. According to this system, our society was divided into two groups- upper and lower castes, the upper caste being a higher caste that enjoyed privileges and was wealthy. Whereas the lower caste was subjected to a lot of discrimination, such as untouchability and had to perform minimal tasks like cleaning and sweeping, they were denied essential public services and were enslaved by the higher castes. They were poor and ill-treated.
