Detailed Solution

Cowrie refers to a seashell. During the Indus Valley civilisation, cowries were used as currency as early as 3000 BCE. These were used for trading and were found in various places of West Asia with which the Indus Valley people traded. The Mesopotamian Civilisation was a trade partner of the Indus Valley, which imported a lot of commodities from the Sindhu people. Cowries travelled from the Maldives to China and East Africa. They are also considered proof of trade relations among countries in ancient times.
