Detailed Solution

Shikara is Built at the top of the Temple. It is built at the upper portion of the Garbhagriha and has a flag attached to it. This is to mark it as a sacred place within the Temple. Building the Shikara requires a careful plan to construct above the sanctum sanatorium. The Shikara sometimes weighs over a ton because of the metals used in making it. One of the prominent examples where the early temples had Shikara was the Bhitargaon Temple in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, in Tamilnadu, one can find huge shikaras in the Dravidian style of architecture. Constructing the mandapa in front of antarala marked the cultural development of the Temple.
