What is a space station?

A space station is a large, living laboratory built in space. It orbits Earth and lets astronauts live and work in zero gravity for weeks or months. Space stations have rooms for sleeping, eating, and performing experiments. They’re used for research on plants, animals, medicine, and technology needed for exploring space further. Space stations are made of many connected pieces called modules.
