What is a sprinkler system?

A sprinkler system is a mechanical setup that sprays water through nozzles to irrigate crops or control fires automatically.

In agriculture, a sprinkler irrigation system distributes water evenly like rainfall. Water is pumped through pipes and sprayed by rotating nozzles onto crops. It saves water, reduces labor, and suits uneven land. Components include pumps, pipelines, risers, and sprinklers.

Sprinkler irrigation maintains soil moisture and is used for vegetables, lawns, and nurseries. In buildings, fire-sprinkler systems work automatically. Heat from fire bursts a glass bulb or melts a fuse, releasing water over the affected area. Both systems work on the same principle: controlled pressurized water distribution for safety or growth.
