Detailed Solution

A stream that flows to a larger stream or other body of water is called a tributary.
A freshwater stream called a tributary enters a bigger stream or river. The main stem of a river is its larger parent. The confluence is the location where a tributary joins the main stem. Affluents, often known as tributaries, do not enter the ocean immediately. Instead, many tributaries combine to generate most of the big rivers. Each stream carries rainfall and snowfall from a particular location and drains a distinct watershed. People have created many cities on the banks of the major rivers' tributaries. For example, the city of Allahabad was constructed where the Yamuna and Saraswati rivers converge with the Ganges River.
