Humans do not have a venous heart, but let’s understand what the term means.

A venous heart is a type of heart that pumps only deoxygenated blood (blood rich in carbon dioxide).
It receives blood from the veins and sends it for oxygenation, but it does not pump oxygenated blood.
Such hearts are commonly found in fishes.
The structure includes only the right side of the heart with two chambers: one atrium (auricle) and one ventricle. In contrast, humans have a four-chambered heart (two auricles and two ventricles).
Blood circulation in a venous heart follows a single closed loop, meaning the heart pumps blood throughout the body in just one circuit. This is also known as the single circulation system.
In this process, deoxygenated blood from the body enters the atrium directly, then flows into the ventricle.
From the ventricle, the blood is pumped to the gills, where it gets purified and oxygenated.
The name “venous heart” comes from the fact that it receives blood only from veins and sends it for oxygenation, unlike the human heart which pumps both deoxygenated and oxygenated blood.
