What is algae habitat?

Algae habitat is mostly aquatic environments, including freshwater, marine, and moist terrestrial areas. Algae are simple plant-like organisms that live in water bodies such as ponds, lakes, rivers, oceans, and even damp soil or rocks. They need water to grow because they perform photosynthesis like plants but often require moist conditions. 

Different types of algae have adapted to various habitats. Some float freely in water (planktonic), others attach to surfaces like rocks or plants (benthic), and some even live inside other organisms. Algae play a critical role in ecosystems by producing oxygen and forming the base of aquatic food chains.
