What is an anther?

The anther is a part of the male reproductive structure called the stamen found in flowers. It is a bag that contains pollen grains responsible for producing and containing pollen grains. 

The anther typically consists of two lobes or sacs called microsporangia, where the pollen grains develop. These pollen grains contain the male gametes (sperm cells) that are necessary for fertilization.
