Detailed Solution

Low-grade brown coal is called lignite. It is soft with high moisture and carbon content of about 60 to 70%. It is mainly employed in energy generation due to its low heating value and high moisture content. The principal lignite reserves are in Neyveli in Tamil Nadu and are used for electricity generation. At the same time, Magnetite is the most refined iron ore with very high iron content, up to 70 per cent. Bauxite is a clay-like substance from alumina, and later aluminium is obtained. Limonite is an iron ore consisting of a mixture of hydrated iron(III) oxide-hydroxides in various compositions.
