Detailed Solution

The angular distance of a place east or west of the Prime Meridian is called Longitude.
Longitude is an angular measurement that specifies the east-west position of a point on the earth’s surface. It is a numerical way to measure the east-west locations on earth. The meridians of Longitude and parallels of latitude together form a grid which helps to determine the exact location on the earth’s surface. They run from the north to the south and divide the earth into the eastern and western hemispheres. There are a total number of 360 longitudes. The Prime Meridian is the Longitude from north to the south, whose value is 180 degrees and passes near the royal observatory, Greenwich in England. The distance between per degree longitudes is 111.32 kilometres at the equator and 0 at the poles.
