Detailed Solution

Champaran satyagraha was associated with Indigo cultivation. The Champaran Satyagraha in Bihar district was Gandhiji's first satyagraha in India in 1917 against the Tinkathia system or Indigo Dye farming. Mahatma Gandhi came to Champaran after listening to the situation of Champaran. He travelled to Champaran, Bihar, to rally farmers against the cruel land system. Several employed farmers were needed to plant indigo on a little of their land as a condition of their employment below colonial legislation. This indigo was used in the production of dyes.
