What is Chandragupta Maurya known for?

Chandragupta Maurya is known for founding the Maurya Empire and uniting most of India under one central rule in 321 BCE. He was the first ruler to create a large empire that stretched from Bengal to Afghanistan. Guided by his mentor and advisor Chanakya (Kautilya), he defeated the Nanda dynasty and later resisted Seleucus I, a successor of Alexander the Great. His reign laid the foundation for one of India’s greatest dynasties. He is remembered for political unity, administrative reforms, and military strength.
