Domestic Violence refers to the harm or threat of injury or harm caused by an adult male to his wife. Women have suffered a lot because of the constant physical and mental abuse at the hands of the male members of their household. They constantly live under pressure to do everything which they are expected to do from the patriarchal perspective or, in most cases, are ordered to do by the males of their household. Women are often treated as sexual or physical slaves to their male counterparts. However, the situation is improving and has improved a lot since the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence came into effect in 2006.
