What is filtration?

Filtration is a process in which water is cleaned using filters such as filter paper. A filter paper is folded in the form of a cone and is fixed onto a funnel. Then the mixture is poured on the filter paper. The insoluble impurities do not pass through the filter paper and remain on it. This remained  impurity is known as residue. Also, filtered water can be collected in a beaker and is known as filtrate.
