Detailed Solution

Body Mass Index or BMI is an index that measures a person’s weight compared to height. It does not directly measure a person’s total body fat but indicates its presence. Body Mass Index tells us whether a person is underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. We can calculate it by dividing an individual's weight by the square of his height. To do so, you have to record the weight (in terms of kg) and height (in terms of meters) of the person whose BMI you are to calculate. Then, use the formula for BMI, i.e., Weight/(Height)². The answer can be used to put the person in one of the four categories: underweight, normal, overweight, and obese. A person with a BMI of - less than 18.5 is Underweight, between 18.5 - 24.9 is Normal, between 25 - 29.9 is Overweight, and equal to or more than 30 is Obese.
