Detailed Solution

Chemical equilibrium can be classified into two types.
a) Homogeneous equilibrium
b) Heterogeneous equilibrium
Homogeneous equilibrium :
“If all the substances of a reversible reaction are present in a single phase” are known as Homogeneous equilibrium.
Eg :
H2(g)+I2(g)2HI(g)
N2(g)+3H2(g)2NH3( g)
Heterogeneous equilibrium :
“If all the substances of a reversible reaction are not present in a single phase” are known as “Heterogeneous equilibrium”.
Eg : CaCO3(s)CaO(s)+CO2( g)
NH4HS(s)NH3(g)+H2 S(g)
The chemical reactions in which all the substances are not present in a single phase is known as Heterogeneous equilibrium.
