Route to south is known as Dakshinapatha.
The word dakshinapatha means the route leading to the south, and it was popularly known for the rulers of Satavahana. The rulers of Satavahana had the name of their mothers in front of their names. One of the most important rulers of Satavahana was Gautamiputra Satakarni, who also became famous for his policy of dakshinapatha. He wanted to conquer the root leading to the south and the entire Southern region with his Army. To do so, he sent his Army to the Eastern, Western, and southern coasts of the Indian peninsula. Apart from this, he also became powerful in the Western region by conquering the native rulers.
