Prashasti is known as Inscription.
The word prashasti was derived from Sanskrit literature, which means "in praise of." The reason behind issuing a ruler's Inscription was to provide information about the brilliant victories against the king's enemies. One of the most famous inscriptions was the Allahabad pillar inscription, which Samudragupta issued. This was composed by his Court poet in the form of a poem in Sanskrit script. It explains the victories of Samudragupta in various battles. It also mentions that Samudragupta was a learned man with the best poetic abilities. Before this, even the rulers of Satavahana, like Gautamiputra Satakarni, also issued such inscriptions.
