Detailed Solution

Defection means changing party allegiance.
Defection is the changing of allegiance towards a political party. A defector is someone in politics which offers up their political party and becomes a part of a different alliance. For example, after being elected in the name of a specific group, defection occurs when a legislator leaves it and joins a different group, thus becoming a traitor to the old party. However, the Constitution was amended to prevent elected MLAs and MPs from changing parties. Accordingly, if any MLA and MP change parties, they can lose their winning seat in the legislature. The problem with this new regulation is that it has made dissent within political parties even more difficult.
