Gharanas are traditions.
Kathak, as a distinct traditional dance, was developed during the period of the Mughals as they encouraged the dancers in their courts and palaces. During the evolution of this dance form, it got two distinctive styles in the form of Gharana. Gharanas are also called traditions; they developed in India's regions, Jaipur and Lucknow. Jaipur Gharana is located in Rajasthan, and Lucknow Gharana is spread across Uttar Pradesh. The Lucknow Gharana was made famous by the last Nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah. The two Gharana became significant styles of this dance in the later stages of its evolution.
