Detailed Solution

Marseillaise is a patriotic song.
The lyrics to La Marseillaise, the nation's hymn, were penned by Claude-Joseph Rouget de Lisle on April 24, 1792, during the French Revolution. Due to its popularity among Marseille-based volunteer army battalions, the anthem's original name, "Chant de Guerre de l'armée du Rhin," was renamed "La Marseillaise." The vibrant and lovely song was sung at public events during the Revolution and made a lasting impression each time. However, during the Second Restoration, Napoleon under the French Empire and Louis XVIII forbade "La Marseillaise" due to its connections to the French Revolution (1815). Napoleon III once more forbade it after the July Revolution of 1830, and it wasn't until 1879 that it was permitted to recommence.
