The Rowlatt Act of the British Government was passed in 1919 that, and was opposed by the Indians. In 1919, a law was passed to deal with the “revolutionary crime ” in the country against the British. Gandhiji and other nationalists criticised the bills. He decided to start a nationwide satyagraha against the Rowlatt Act. The Rowlatt act gave power to the government, the right to arrest without a warrant and detention without trial for up to two years.
