Detailed Solution

Light is made up of different wavelengths, and each wavelength corresponds to a specific color. When light splits into its seven basic colors, it forms a spectrum.

Light can be produced either by combining all seven colors or by using one or more of them. When light contains more than one visible wavelength (more than one color), it is called polychromatic light.

Since wavelengths bend around obstacles of similar size (diffraction), using polychromatic light does not produce clear bright and dark fringes. Similarly, in interference, the patterns of different wavelengths overlap, so distinct interference fringes cannot be observed.

Thus, polychromatic light is made up of more than one wavelength.
