Rayon is made by breaking down and reforming cellulose.
Rayon is made from wood pulp. It is first dissolved in an alkaline solution to produce a thick liquid which is then passed through tiny holes to produce fibres and hardened by using sulphuric acid. These fibres are then spun to make yarns and woven into clothes. In this whole process, the original raw material cellulose is first broken down and reformed.
