Detailed Solution

Rinderpest is a cattle disease.
Rinderpest, or cattle disease, is a highly contagious and deadly disease of cattle, buffalo, yaks, and other artiodactyls (ungulates with toes), both domesticated and wild. Endangered species include pigs, giraffes, and kudus. In Africa, in the 1890s, a rapidly spreading disease of cattle or rinderpest harmed human health and the local economy. This is a good example of the widespread influence of the European state on colonial societies. It depicts how in the conquest era, even the plague of cattle changed the lives and wealth of thousands of people and their relationships with the rest of the world. At the end of the nineteenth century, Europeans were attracted to Africa because of its abundant natural resources and minerals. Europeans came to Africa hoping to establish fields and mines to produce crops and minerals that would be exported to Europe. But there was an unexpected problem, a shortage of workers willing to work for wages.
