What is river lift system?

A river lift system is a type of irrigation method where water is drawn directly from a river—using pumps or similar mechanisms—to provide water for agricultural fields. Unlike gravity-based canal irrigation, this system does not depend on the natural flow of water through canals. Instead, it uses external energy to lift and transport water from a lower river level to higher ground where agriculture is practiced.
