Detailed Solution

Sericulture is the production of silk. Sericulture or silk farming is the process of cultivating silkworms to extract silk from them. The domestic silkmoth’s caterpillars, also called Bombyx Mori, are the most commonly used silkworm species in the sericulture process. Silk production in India is 3000 tonnes per year. For producing silk, the sericulture process follows three main steps such are mariculture, silkworm rearing, and the final step, silk reeling.
