The Second International is known as a socialist International body.
The Labour and Socialists formed an organization known as Second International on 14th July 1889. First International was dissolved, and then the Second International was formed. Several socialists opposed private property and had many different views on how a society should exist without personal property. They believed in the supremacy of these cooperatives. A prominent English industrialist, Robert Owen (1771-1858), attempted to establish a cooperative city in Indiana called New Harmony (USA). Other socialists believed that cooperatives could not be established on a large scale only through private initiative and asked that governments support cooperatives. They formed this body with socialists and labourers.
