Chemically biogas comprises methane (CH4), CO2, traces of H2S and moisture.
* Certain bacteria grow anaerobically on cellulosic material produce methane along with
CO2 and H2. These bacteria are called Methanogens.
Process of biogas production :
* The biogas plant consists of a concrete tank (10-15 ft deep) in which bio-wastes are collected and slurry of dung is fed.
* A floating cover is placed over the slurry and the gas is produced in the tank due to microbial
activity & connected to a pipe to supply biogas to nearby houses.
