Detailed Solution

Our atmosphere is divided into five layers.
First layer is the troposphere above the surface and it contains half of the Earth's atmosphere.
Second layer is the stratosphere because it is very stable.
The ozone layer absorbs harmful rays from the Sun present in this layer.
Third layer is the mesosphere in which meteors or rock fragments burn up.
Fourth layer is the thermosphere, It is where the space shuttle orbits.
The atmosphere merges into space in the extremely thin exosphere.
It is the upper limit of our atmosphere.
