Detailed Solution

The given fractions are,
4 15   and 2 1 5
In order to subtract unlike fractions, they must be converted into equivalent like fractions.
Converting the mixed fraction into simple fraction, we get
2 1 5 = (5×2)+1 5 = 10+1 5 = 11 5   Therefore, now we have to subtract 4 15   from 11 5 .
The LCM of the denominator 5 and 15 is 15.
So, we convert the given fractions into equivalent fractions with denominator 15.
Thus,
  11 5 = 11×3 5×3 = 33 15
2 1 5 4 15 = 29 15
Therefore we have,
11 5 4 15 = 334 15 = 29 15
Therefore the difference of 4 15   and 2 1 5  is 29 15 .
Hence option (1) is correct.
