What is the function of Trypsin?

Trypsin is a digestive enzyme secreted in an inactive form (trypsinogen) by the pancreas. Its main functions are:

• It helps in the digestion of proteins by breaking them into smaller peptides (dipeptides and amino acids).
• It activates other pancreatic enzymes like chymotrypsin, carboxypeptidase, and elastase, which further aid in protein digestion.
• In some animals, trypsin can also convert fibrinogen into fibrin, leading to blood clotting, though this function is not significant in humans.
