Detailed Solution

30° is the latitudinal and longitudinal extent of the Indian mainland. The east to west and north to south extents of India are the same-around 30°. But the north-south direction seems lengthier than the east-west direction. India extends from 6° 44’ N to 35° 30’ N latitudes and from 68° 7’ E to 97° 25’ E longitudes. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, there is a distance of 3214 kilometres from north to south. The east-to-west extent of India is 2933 kilometers. The northernmost point of India is Indira Col in the union territory of Ladakh. The southernmost point is Indira Point, which is a lighthouse in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The eastern point is in Arunachal Pradesh, and the westernmost end is Sir Creek in Kutch, Gujarat.
