Detailed Solution

concept - Acid Rain, as the name suggests, can be said as precipitation of acid in the form of rain in the simplest way. When atmospheric pollutants such as nitrogen and sulphur oxides react with rainwater and come down with the rain, it results in acid rain.
Acid rain is caused by sulphur and nitrogen particles that mix with the wet components of the rain. Sulphur and nitrogen particles that mix with water are found in two ways, they are either man-made, i.e. as emissions from industry, or natural causes, such as lightning striking the atmosphere releasing nitrogen oxides and volcanic eruptions releasing oxide open. Hence, pollution is the main cause of acid rain.
Hence, the correct option is (1).
