What is the main component of plant cell walls?

Plant cell walls are composed primarily of polysaccharides. The three main polysaccharides found in the primary plant cell wall are cellulose, hemicellulose, and pectin. Cellulose is the most abundant polysaccharide in the plant kingdom and provides rigidity and strength to the cell wall. Hemicellulose and pectin are also important components of the cell wall and help to bind the cellulose microfibrils together.
