Detailed Solution

The mass of the earth is 6  ×  1024 kg.
Given ,
Radius of earth, r= 6.37 × 106 m
Acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.8 m/s2 Gravitational constant, = 6.6 × 10-11 N m2/kg2
We know that,
= GMr2  where g, G, M and r are the gravitational acceleration, gravitational constant, mass of the object and the radius of the object.
On substituting the values, we get
M=9.8×6.37 × 6.37 × 10126.6× 10-11
  M= 397.6536 × 10236.6                                            M= 60.2505  × 1023
  M= 6  ×  1024 kg
Hence, the mass of the earth is 6  ×  1024 kg.
