Detailed Solution

Concept- We shall begin by defining the term echo. Then, we'll talk about when the source's echo can be clearly heard (i.e., minimum distance conditions required) . Sound waves, like all waves, can be mirrored. The large impediments to reflection are causing problems for sound waves. The sound known as an echo is produced by the reflection of sound waves from a huge obstruction. Echo is frequently not heard since the reflected sound merges with the originating sound. Certain conditions must be met in order to hear an echo clearly (as a separate sound) .
Every sound persists in our ear for around 0.1 second. This is referred to as hearing persistence. When the echo is heard within this time period, it is impossible to distinguish between the original sound and its echo. The most critical criterion for hearing an echo is that the reflected sound should reach the ear after at least 0.1 seconds after the original sound has died off. As a result, the vacuum velocity of sound is
c = 340 m/s.
Since, Distance travelled = Speed Question Image Time
Distance travelled by sound = Speed of light Question Image Time taken
Distance travelled by sound in 0.1 second Question ImageThe distance reached by sound will be 34 m in 0.1 second. The distance between a sound source and a reflector should be double that. Furthermore, if the barrier is at least 17 m away, the reflected sound or echo can be clearly heard after 0.1 second. As a result, the greatest hearing persistence for humans is 0.1 second or 110 seconds.
Hence, option 3 is the correct answer.
