Detailed Solution

'Sepoy Mutiny' means soldier march.
The Soldier March or the Sepoy Mutiny occurred due to the introduction of new rifle cartridges that were rumoured to be greased with pig and cow fat grease. Hindu and Muslim soldiers were offended by the requirement that the new cartridge is chewed before being inserted into the rifle. The 1857 insurrection was started when the rebellious sepoys were shackled and imprisoned, but their furious companions shot their British superiors and marched on Delhi. The Indian Mutiny, often known as the Sepoy Mutiny or the First War of Independence, occurred between 1857 and 1859. In 1857, Indian soldiers rose against their British commanders. They were joined by native leaders and ordinary people in a battle that threatened to topple British colonial authority on the Indian subcontinent.
