Zikr means remembering Allah. It ranks among the most revered Sufi ceremonies. Constantly keeping in mind the One who created everything is necessary to live in harmony with Allah. Because unity is the purest manifestation of surrender to Allah, this is the true zikr and the goal of the Sufi path. To achieve that state, Prophet Muhammad gave the ritualised practise of zikr to Tasawwuf (Sufism) disciples (peace be upon him). Hazrati Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (PBUH) about the route of zikr in the beginning.
