Holozoic nutrition is a type of heterotrophic nutrition in which an organism ingests solid food particles which are then broken down by digestive enzymes.

Amoeba ingests solid food particles like bacteria, algae, and other microscopic organisms by extending their pseudopodia around the food particle and enclosing it in a small pocket of the cell membrane, forming a structure called a food vacuole.

The food vacuole then moves into the interior of the cell where it fuses with lysosomes that contain digestive enzymes. These enzymes break down the food particles into simpler molecules that can be absorbed by the cell for energy.
