Concept: According to the law of conservation of mass the total mass of the products is equal to the total mass of the reactants.

To get one molecule of H2O (water) with a molecular weight of 10, Hydrogen with a molecular weight of 2 is added with Oxygen whose molecular weight is 8, thereby conserving the mass.

Hence the molecular weight of H2 added is 2 and that of oxygen is 8.
