Detailed Solution

The nature of Indian secularism is distancing and intervention. The Indian State maintains a neutral attitude towards all religions without endorsing any one particular religion. However, Indian secularism does not call for the complete exclusion of religion from public life. All religious minorities in India have the legal right to create and maintain their educational institutions, with possible state support. In order to purge religion of its ills, the State must intervene in religion. The State has stepped in by implementing laws that forbid the customs of sati, or the burning of widows, Triple Talaq, dowries, animal and bird sacrifice, child marriage, and denying Dalits access to temples.
