Detailed Solution

Air enters the respiratory system through the nose or mouth, passes down the trachea, into the bronchi, then the bronchioles, and finally reaches the alveoli where gas exchange happens.

First, air enters through the nostrils where it is filtered, warmed, and moistened. It then moves through the pharynx and larynx into the trachea, a tube that directs air to the lungs. The trachea splits into two bronchi, each leading to a lung. Inside the lungs, bronchi branch into smaller tubes called bronchioles. At the end of these bronchioles are tiny air sacs called alveoli where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide is removed.

This pathway ensures that oxygen is efficiently supplied to the body and waste gases are expelled.
