SSC CGL exam 2025 Tier 2 Exam Pattern

The Tier 2 examination consists of two papers: Paper I, which is mandatory for all applicants, and Paper II, which is for candidates applying for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).

Paper I (Compulsory for all posts)
Paper I is conducted in two sessions.

Session I (2 hours and 30 minutes) includes three sections:

  • Section I (1 hour):
    • Module-I: Mathematical Abilities (30 questions, 90 marks)
    • Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence (30 questions, 90 marks)
  • Section II (1 hour):
    • Module-I: English Language and Comprehension (45 questions, 135 marks)
    • Module-II: General Awareness (25 questions, 75 marks)
  • Section III (15 minutes):
    • Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test (20 questions, 60 marks). This module is qualifying in nature.

Session II (15 minutes) includes:

    • Module-II: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). This involves one data entry task and is qualifying in nature.

Paper II (For JSO posts)

  • Subject: Statistics
  • Structure: 100 questions for a total of 200 marks.
  • Duration: 2 hours.

Negative Marking in Tier 2

  • For Paper I, there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II, and Module I of Section III.
  • For Paper II, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.
