Detailed Solution

The power of accommodation is the ability of the human eye lens to adjust its focal length to view nearby and distant objects.
Eye lens is held in its position with the help of ciliary muscles. Ciliary muscles also help in modifying the eye lens to some extent to adjust its focal length. When ciliary muscles relax, the eye lens becomes thin due to which its focal length increases and the objects at a far distance can be viewed clearly. When the ciliary muscles contracts, the eye lens becomes thick and its focal length decreases to facilitate the view of nearby objects. Therefore, ability of the human eye lens to adjust its focal length to view nearby and distant objects is called the power of accommodation.
