What Is the Process for NEET PG After MBBS?

The process for NEET PG after MBBS involves applying for the NEET PG entrance exam, appearing for the test, and participating in the counselling process to get admission into MD, MS, or PG Diploma courses in India. This exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and is mandatory for all MBBS graduates who want to pursue postgraduate medical education.

After completing your MBBS degree and compulsory internship, you need to register for NEET PG online at nbe.edu.in. You will fill out a form, upload documents such as your MBBS certificate, internship proof, and medical registration, and pay the exam fee. Once the application is accepted, you receive an admit card to appear for the exam.

The NEET PG exam is computer-based and tests all subjects taught during MBBS, including pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical topics. It consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. After the exam, results are declared with category-wise cutoff percentiles. If you qualify, you become eligible to take part in the counselling process.

Counselling for NEET PG is done in two parts. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while the remaining 50% State Quota seats are handled by individual state authorities. You’ll need to register again, choose your preferred colleges and specialties, and wait for seat allotment. Once a seat is allotted and confirmed, you report to the medical college to start your postgraduate course.
