Detailed Solution

The process of separating the chaff from grain is done by the process called winnowing.
The process in which the heavier components are separated from the lighter components of a mixture with the help of the wind is known as winnowing. Straw and Husk collectively are known as chaff. Chaff is lighter than grain. Hence, winnowing separates the chaff from the grains. The farmer stands on a platform and releases the mixture. The grain falls under the window while the chaff being lighter, gets carried away by the wind a little.
